Hello,
I have problem with starting Far Cry 2 gameplay. Game for itself installs and starts fine (installtion hangs up on dxupdate - I hope it isn't important) , all menus works great, after choosing new story and character it loads, starts, there are few seconds of gameplay (driving in jeep) and exits. That's all·
my system:
AMD 64x2, 4800
Ram 2Gb
GTS 250
ubuntu 9.10 64 bit
playonlinux 3.7.5
Far Cry with no CD patch

I hope you can understand what I've written and I apologize for any mistakes, English isn't my native language

thank you for reading .

Try to assign Wine 1.1.43 to FarCry 2, if that won't work then try Wine 1.1.37

Thank you for your replay, now it works fine. I also used advanced wine configuration plugin and set offscreenrendering to backbuffer.

Why did you do that? In general backbuffer means worse performance in comparison to fbo.

Yes, I already started to realize that. :) I launched it for the first time and thought it might help, no other reasons really.

Anyway: Does the game work with fbo?

Hello I am having the exact same problem, but switching to 1.1.43 or 1.1.37 did not solve my problem.
My spechs are:
Geforce 9600M GT
Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit
POL 3.7.6
Far cry no cd patch

Both with fbo and with backbuffer the problem exists.

Alright lastest edit. I tried rerunning the debug and it seems that i get a new error every time i try.
Last time i tried i got this as the last line:
/usr/share/playonlinux/lib/applications: line 36: 7265 Segmentation fault wine "FarCry2.exe" $@But now with the latest debug i get this:

Have you changed something in System->Environment in POL?

No not at all. And the game still crashes approximately 30 seconds into the taxi scene.

I'm neither creator of the script nor I ever installed FarCry 2 but in AppDB latest successful report is for Wine 1.1.37 So maybe it's worth to try with that version. It's really easy to do it in POL.
