Starting a thread for people to post their success and failures in getting the new Star Trek Online to run.
Has anyone had any luck at all, since open beta, to get the client to run?

This seems legit, several guides link to it and there's even a sizable topic on the STO forums.
I haven't personally tried it yet as i'm not really that tech savy :P

Installing STO on Linux is actually pretty easy.
1. Install POL
2. Download 1.1.36
3. Put CD in.
4. Manual Install.
5.Download POL Helper.
6. Use POL Helper to winetricks ie7 into the STO prefix.
7. In terminal type xset r off
8. Play.

Can someone make a script for installing this game (Star Trek Online)? Now that the game is free, I would think the Linux folks would be flocking there a bit.
Also, does anyone have any current installation instructions? The instructions above include the use of POL Helper, which from what I read are not supported by Play On Linux anymore. I have tried POL to install, but I keep having problems getting it to patch when past the login screen.

I'm trying to get it working myself but with little success. I've tried running it through steam (as you can download it from there). The Launcher partially works but not enough to get to the game.
I'd love to log in with my old account now that it's free!

How? I can only see IE6 under "Install Packages". No mention of any Internet Explorers in Winetricks.

Works flawlessly Easiest way to install is to. 1. Install IE8 to its own folder (With Updates). 2. Install non listed program (Star Trek Online Torrent from site what I used) 3. In terminal type xset r off 4. Launch from desktop Icon
If you get lockups and errors i deleted and rdid it till no errors.
