City of Heroes/Villians has had a problem in wine - opengl and nvidia, and i've not tested AION. very curious, they are the only things holding me in winders land.

So far I have tried Aion but the downloader seems to get stuck at 21%

I didn't experienced any "dl stuck" bug with Mint 12.

The only bug I saw : game launcher do not work after the very first launch (right after completed download). I added a "direct" launch shortcut to make the game work, but it disable all possibilities of updating the game.

As I can see, this game will stay in testing for a while, perhaps forever since wine dev are avare of this bug since initial launch and didn't done anything.

How did you make the "direct launch"?

I've looked at the installed files, but is not clear what needs to be launched.

On WineHQ, I was told that the NCLauncher.exe expects to see a trailing space on the command line. In Windows, a shortcut is set up for starting NCLauncher.exe

I modified the POL shortcut to do

POL_Wine start ./NCLauncher.exe /LauncherID:NCWest /CompanyID:12 /GameID:AION /LUpdateAddr:updater.nclauncher.ncsoft.com

This successfully started the launcher, which did a file check, then launched the game. Unfortunately, the game is now failing when loading CryPhysics.dll
