First off thanks for look at this post and either pointing me or helping me.

I am running Ubuntu 9.04 64bit version.
DV6225 Laptop
2.5GB Ram

I have installed PlayOnLinux, and also installed Office 2007 using the install script. Here is my problem: I have a windows fileserver setup in the house. I have placed all my documents on that box and access it on multiple machines I have in the house. I do this so I can easily save it to my machine which I have setup in a raid 1 to allow for a better backup. I am trying to setup a network map in Ubuntu to allow me to simply open the file and associate it with Office 2007. I have done the association with Office 2007 however i am not allowed to open the file over the network(I get an error that it is misspelled and I need to check my name and try again), when I copy the file to my desktop and open it, Excel will open it (correct program) however it will all display blank. When I open Excel than open a file and point it (desktop) I get no problems with my file.

My goal is to find a solution that will allow me to place an launcher on the desktop that will allow someone to double click and upload the data temp into office 2007. If anyone has had experience with this and can help it would be appreciated. Thanks again.

p.s. My skills in linux is laughable to many, however I am willing to learn and figure it out if pointed in the correct direction.

Did you read FAQ file for POL Helper plugin? I wrote there how to make associate file with application installed through POL

Do you want to copy files from place A (network) to place B (desktop)?
