OK thanks a lot , i install the game finally, but it does not run, when i run the aoe3 prefix nothing happend, but if i config the prefix and use "simuleta windows restart" i get this message:

"The program dxdllreg.exe has encountered a serius problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

This con be caused by a problem in the program or a deficiency in Wine. You may to check http://appdb.winehq.org for tips about running this application.

if this problem is not present under Windows and has not been reported yet, you can report it at http://bugs.winehq.org"

And the only botton avaiable is "close" i click on it and the wine windows close.

So, whats the problem ?

thks

Hi there,

Well I've just installed Age of Empires 3 using playonlinux and it goes smoothly until I start up the game, I got the splash screen ans the video intro and it has sound, the issue comes when I try to play just to find that... there is no sound!!! I have copied the needed dll's reinstall the game and stuff and yet, there is no way to get the sound playing during gameplay, it is totally muted.

Any ideas to solve this?

BTW, I read something about a CD-crack and someone, and admin, said that it was illegal, well, actually if you have a copy of the original game, that is piracy and it is ilegal stuff, but if you have the original cd and only want to instal a non-cd patch that's a different story, actually most games installed using playonlinux won't run with the original game.exe, so you need to download a no-cd patch to run the game, which is not illegal at all, it is just a way to protect your original cd's from being damaged after years of usage.

I'll keep trying to solve my Age muted game...

What distro do you use? If it's latest Ubuntu then try to install packages which have pulseaudio and alsa in its name.

Do lowering Wine version helps?
