Heya

I have a problem running Sims 3 (sorry, I know this game just came out  )
While I'm busy making a sim, making the face/hair/look the game just exits/terminates.
(I didn't get any visible error warnings  )

I'm very new to linux so I'm not very clued up on things yet.
So I'll appreciate any help :D thanks

Wine version used by PlayOnLinux : wine-1.1.22

You're using wrong Wine Version it should be "1.1.22-SIMS3". Script makes and sets this patched version to run Sims 3 automatically to solve the issue you're experiencing

Thanks for your fast response :)

and sorry, I should have mentioned that...
under the wine versions setting, under "my applications" my sims 3 is set for "1.1.22-SIMS3"

So if it is so then you can:

1) check if "1.1.22-SIMS3" is correctly created by checking size of "wine-preloader"
"/.PlayOnLinux/WineVersions/1.1.22-SIMS3/usr/bin"
which should be 11.2 KB

2) lower graphic settings

Wine version used by PlayOnLinux : wine-1.1.22

What do you meant by that? Be sure to do this:

In Settings->Environment the value "Default Wine Version to run wine programs with PlayOnLinux" should be set to "System"

This is a bug with POL and i reported it. I don't know if it'll be fixed in next release.

yeah, wine-preloader is 11.2 KB

lowered all the graphics too, even unchecked all those lil extras.

I manage to get upto editing the shirt though, that's where it exits hehe

[edit] k I'll check that now ^^^

[edit] yeah the default value there is System
[continue] I got alot those first specs from Settings->System and then clicking system so that's why I didn't mention 1.1.22-SIMS3

Does the game crashes fast when you try to make something else than creating Sim?

mmm I tried now, I could play for quite a while using one of the default sets of sims they have there. It didn't crash when I was busy with the furniture and building editor in the game either.
So it looks like it just crashes for me when I try and make my own sim.

Heh. I didn't tested game by making Sim (so the game was stable for me). It's probably an bug in Wine so I cannot help you. It may be fixed in next Wine release. You can be sure I'll be updating installing script to install always with newest Wine. Sorry but it's all i can do.

Well thanks for your help anyway, you've been great :) I was thinking it could be a wine problem :) or an EA problem even hehe.

Hi boonshanka,

You should try to assign Wine 1.1.21 to The Sims 3.
According to obi1-46, the game doesn't suffer from the issue you're describing with Wine 1.1.21. (he said that in the comments of the French announcement for the Sims 3 script)

@ NSLW: so you maybe should modify your script to use Wine 1.1.21 if it actually solve the issue.

Bye

If he try plain 1.1.21 he'll get crash everywhere in 2 mins. It must be patched 1.1.21. However i'm not sure if 1.1.21 will do anything better.

I added Wine 1.1.21 in POL Wine Versions Settings, and under My Applications set The Sims to run with 1.1.21. (I didn't add or edit anything further because I don't know how to hehe)
And :D it worked. I made my own sim, and built my own house. Here I did experience some textures starting to display weirdly after a long while. I didn't crash though :) I must still try Sims 3 with better graphics in the Sims 3 graphics settings and I must try playing more of the game, away from the building/editing part of it.

Thanks Ghostofkendo! :D

Ok. Version reverted to 1.1.21 Textures start to display weird probably because out of memory errors.
