Drakensang English version

How to get it working?

Hello everybody,

I'm a complete newbie to PlayOnLinux, but I read somewhere that it was the best way to get Drakensang working.

I've seen a POL script somewhere for the German version, but that doesn't work for the English one. Does anyone have a script for the English version? If not, is it hard to adapt the German script? Does a newbie like me have any chance to get it working?

And also, does POL still work if I replace the Securom-protected .exe with a cracked/repaired .exe that doesn't need the DVD in the drive? (Because I really hate that.)

POL still will work. However it's illegal (at least in my country)

Script is complicated and badly written. You should contact Dominik Schürmann and ask him for needed files and maybe for modified script. Otherwise you've got no chance to run this game.

P.S: You should always start a topic by saying some kind of "Hello", it's not so hard and it'll cause your topic to more likely get an answer. :) (originally written by Ghostofkendo)

Thanks for your reply. I'm sorry to hear that script is so bad. I'd come to believe this was going to be easy with POL. Is Drakensang notoriously hard to get working, or is that a newbie like me has no chance to configure wine correctly? (I'm not exactly look forward to the prospect of having to figure that out myself, but POL looks like it might make configuring wine a bit easier.)

As for the no-DVD crack, I think it's legal in my country, as long as I also own a legal copy of the game (which I do).

Sometimes configuring Wine isn't enough. Sometimes you've got to now how to compile Wine from sources and apply patches, but you may try with latest Wine. Maybe it'll work out of box.

I don't think so.
