Hi,
I'm new around here, and generally speaking I wont sign up to forums but I thought this needed commenting. I've been playing around with Playonlinux the last few weeks, and I have to say your script is one of the only ones I've NOT had trouble with including the supported ones. Very nicely done from my perspective.
EDIT: Just to make this clearer, I am not meaning to say that the rest of the scripts are poorly done I just happen to have an unusual set of packages installed along with a 64bit arch which causes problems with a lot of installs
As for the game it's self, I actually have an X-FI card with drivers installed, however as expected i needed to set to Software Audio rendering not hardware or X-Fi otherwise the game would crash as soon as I joined a map.
I Needed to turn off Dynamic Shaders, otherwise I would get a problem with some textures not loading, and I also noticed that you need to run it in a virtual window not doing so produced interesting results however this was set by default.
There seems to be a very slight delay between pressing a movement key and the the actual movement, however I haven't played BF 2142 with 1.5 on windows so this may be something introduced or changed intentionally and doesn't really cause any problems.
The only other problem I noticed was that if the window loses focus the menu's etc screw up, however i had this problem under windows as well so this is more likely an issue with the game it's self not compatibility.
Overall an excellent script. To be honest BF 2142 was one of the games I had written off to be played under windows only so to have it run perfectly with only a few setting changes is quite a nice surprise
