Text illegible in steam friends

Hi, I've just installed playonlinux (and Steam) on Ubuntu via the intrepid repository.

That's all gone absolutely fine, steam loads, however, under friends, text is illegible, and it doesn't even show up in the conversation window.

Is there a way to fix this?
