Saving Configuration Settings?

I'm very new to all this, and when I bring up the configuration window and change settings, there doesn't seem to be a way to save them. If I exit out and bring it back, none of my changes are saved. Do I just leave the configuration window open after making the changes then run the software https://vlc.onl/ ?
