I've tried dragging and dropping as well as copy/paste but the result is always the same:

At around the 350 MB of 1.74 GB point, I get the following error.

The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access "PlayOnMac"

"The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access "PlayOnMac"."

Various troubleshooting actions (based on similar app installation reports online):

  • I've rebooted.
  • I can freely install other applications without problems.
  • When I look at the Info page for PlayOnMac_4.4.3.dmg, I see Read & Write privileges for all the entries in Sharing & Permissions.
  • I'm signed in to the App Store (a strange suggestion but I thought I'd try).
  • I tried installing to a different location. Same result.

Anyone got any tips for how I can get POM installed?

By opening the package and copying it piecemeal, I've discovered that it comes down to three problematic files.

They're all in /Volumes/PlayOnMac/PlayOnMac.app/Contents/Resources/unix/wine/lib/wine

  • dism.exe
  • winver.exe
  • wmplayer.exe

For all three files, I have Read & Write privileges. In fact, the info pages for each file appear the same as the other executables in this folder.

**SOLVED** by uninstalling Wine and Wine & WineBottler. Clearly there was a conflict between the Wine in the PlayOnMac installer and the already installed versions.
