I would love to install The Sims 3 on Linux. I have the CDs, so I do not want to use Origin. Currently I have a dual boot setup, with a Windows 7 partition running my last few Windows programs that I use, including Sims, and Linux Mint 20.3 Cinnamon edition for everything else I use. I downloaded the PlayOnLinux program from the Mint repository, so I have POL 4.3.4 and Wine 5.0. Looking at the POL Supported Software webpage, it looks like The Sims 3 base game is supported, as well as a few expansion packs, stuff packs, and updates. However, when I open up POL, click Install, then over to games, I cannot find The Sims 3 base game, only the expansion packs, stuff pack, and updates. Does this mean I have to manually install the base game and all the other expansion packs I have that aren't listed as supported software?

Thank you!

Okay, so I found The Sims 3 after checking the "No CD needed" option and was able to commence with the installation; however I had several errors which prevented the game from installing.

The first error directed me to change /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope to 0, as well as set kernel.yama.ptrace_scope=0 in the folder /etc/sysctl.d/10-ptrace.conf. I was able to do that just fine.

A little while later, I got several more errors which are beyond me:

That's all of the errors I got. I was trying to install from the game DVD, if that makes a difference. I did not change any default locations; I just let the installer do it's thing. I tried to send an error report, but it wouldn't work and kept saying my login credentials were wrong.

Is there anything I can do to clear up these errors?
