What's the use of programs like wine, crossover or playonmac when one can't use usb ports!!?? The crossover solution doesn't work (renaming the right usb port to a com port). This makes these programs actually useless, or is there a working solution?

Well, lots of programs don't need USB ports. But I have been able to use them. Using PlayOnMac 4.4.3 on MacOS Big Sur 11.6, I could map my USB to a com port. Here is an article I wrote for using GPS https://ezward.github.io/gps/#u-center, but go to the U-Center section for how to install on U-Center on MacOS and it has step by step instructions on how to map the serial device to a com port. Here is a video that walks through the same thing https://youtu.be/IHblD8iwjmA

What for? It's probably easiest to use an external USB hub. It doesn't add another controller, if that's what you're asking for, so it may not be good if you're going to hook up several USB SSDs or something, but for most uses it's probably the best. It's easily portable https://1921681254.mx/ , and many of the larger ones come with a dedicated power source so you can charge many devices at full power simultaneously.
