Small description of the app:
This script is an improved version of the "test" script that already exists in the PlayOnLinux supported software list; BUT this script works! MS Excel, MS Word and MS Powerpoint all working.

 

Script restrictions on wine and winOS:

  • I am using wine 5.8 because 5.0 does not hand over control to the window manager, even when that option is checked in wine config; 5.16  seems to give troubles with selection boxes.
  • The OS version is win7, not working with win8, win8.1 or win10
  • Because of win7, the script needs one of the original office 2016 install dvd iso from back in 2015; you can find them around, all languages together about 80Gb, according to the torrent description. You can find the original SHA1 checksums online so you are sure not to install a pirated version. Microsoft switched to now distributing setup.exe and image files (e.g. the Office Deployment Tool) that have all updates in them. THESE VERSIONS DO NOT WORK, because on the run MS added a check that win7 is no longer supported!

 

Script:
This is my first script, any feedback is welcome! During the installation, a window is opened with all MS Office icons on it; this window is unclosable and made the old script never finishing. I solved this, a bit dirty, by:

  • commenting a POL_Wine_WaitExit "$TITLE" out, so it would stop waiting forever
  • added some code I stole from the PlayOnLinux source code, that closes all running POL software at the end of the installation. That actually closes the stuck window.

Also, I am not sure the check for winetricks is necessary (is POL_Call Install using winetricks or not)?

Ok, first of all big thanks to all you playonlinux dev's, great software, love it!

 

As to the formatting, I finally managed to get the layout correct. Please change the long text on wiki page https://www.playonlinux.com/en/topic-10187-Standards_for_script_publishing.html to something like this:

When you post your script, cut and past your script in the post, select the script and choose from the "Style" menu in the editor the "code playonlinux" option. If your paste is from a linux platform, your script may show unnecssary empty lines or <br> codes on the end of every line; if that is the case, your script has unix-like end-of-line characters, you can convert them to dos-like style with a tool like "unix2dos".

 

Also note that the "Example" button on the editor gives a 404-page error (at least in my config, Ubuntu 20.04 / Firefox 80.01).

 

If this script gets approved, please feed me instructions: this script is not supposed to be a new one, but should replace the old "Microsoft Office 2016" script. It took me a _lot_ of effort to get this script working, and I love to share it with the world in a "one-click" way!

Because I don't like MS Office, I've put your new script there. Maybe it should replace the previous script, I'll let the admin or a other moderator decide it.

I've done all the standard stuff already nothing works. KMSpico is not working. Microsoft Toolkit is not working. When I used toolkit it just said "invalid class" and when I used those CMD activators it just said my version is not supported. I looked through the megathread, could not find anything useful for this purpose. My version is 2016 Professional Plus. The program still works but it keeps on saying the product is not activated every time I open it and that's annoying. I had previously been able to activate it no problem using KMS Auto but now that doesn't work for some reason. When I press activate Office, literally nothing happens   .
