Tiny Mono installation window, can't resize

Wine cannot find the FreeType font library

I'm trying to install old game SimCity 2000 for the first time on new POL installation.  It will get to the point of installing Mono but the window is so tiny I can't see anything, can't resize it either.  I found some other suggestions on the forum like to remove libz libraries?  That just crashes wine.  Also tried deleting ~/.POL directory and starting over.   wine:i386 is installed as well as libfreetype6:i386 2.9.1 so not sure why POL is saying it can't find the Freetype library...

edit: I got by the Mono installation by installing mono-complete package.  But now a Gecko installation window is showing up the same way, so tiny you can't interact with anything!  Grrr... and still getting the Freetype error.  Is there a way to install Gecko from command line like with mono?

I know the tiny window issue, the only fix I know is to use Wine v2.22 or later.

The problem is that the latest Wine + DOS support build (it's a special Wine version) we have in POL/POM is the v1.6.2

I extracted the file as you said in your thread, into ~/.PlayOnLinux/wine/linux-x86

Then I went to the settings and changed the version to 4.0, then retried the installation with "Install a program" then searching for it, picking "Overwrite" when asked.  It will get past the Mono and Gecko, as in they don't even show up.  But what does show up is another window called "Setup" with orange icon with white circle.  It's listed in the window list but there's no window and the setup is just stuck again.

OK I understand, the Wine version should be changed  (save it, edit it, load it) into the script (to v2.22 or later) in order to let the installation succeed. Then only the Wine version should be change to 4.0-dos_support.

A lot of work...

Which script file is that?  The one here, https://www.playonlinux.com/en/app-1151-GOGcom__Simcity_2000_Special_Edition.html ?  Doesn't look too bad just update

WORKING_WINE_VERSION="4.0-dos_support"

Well that actually worked to get the game installed, just changed the one line above and saved the script file, then POL > Tools > Run local script.  Installation went normal but now having a crash when try to start the game, I'll save that for another thread.  In the mean time i can still run wine directly at least from command line with "wine EXE" and the game is running fine.
