Hey there,

So, a couple of days ago I updated the OS to Cataline and puff, my games don’t work anymore. I read enough about it to know why and I also know that wine is working on fixing the problem.
Now, for me..I used to play my games via porting kit, which is basically the same I guess, since it also uses everything generated from wine.

Nevertheless, I thought about changing to playonmac. So, I downloaded it and now I can’t open it.

If I double klick the playonmac icon, the first thing that happens is that the program is checked. That process stops at some point where it says that „opening the program was blocked, since the identity of the developer couldnt be approved".

Okay, so I go to my system preferences —> safety —> general and say „open anyways“

So, it does the same stuff, doing the checking and I get the same message but also the option to click on „open anyways“. So, I do that..and NOTHING happens. The icon, normally visible in the dock at the bottom, disappears and the program doesnt open.

So, my question..has anyone faced a similar problem and knows what I can do???
Or is it that the whole application itself is 32bit and thus cant be opened?

cheerio

Yes, that is what happened to me too.   It's because Catalina only supports 64 bit programs, and Wine doesn't work on Catalina.   I don't know why an error message doesn't pop up when we try to launch PlayOnMac, after we have okayed everything in System Preferences, but nothing comes up.  It just won't run.  We have to wait for them to update PlayOnMac, which I am sure they are working very hard on doing.

Well I just tried it and my Mac is 10.12.6.

Everytime i try to open it after downloading it, I get this stupid "fatal error and will now terminate" problem. I would appreaciate it if someone finds a way to fix this problem so that it never happens ever again.

If you are running Mac OS 10.14 or older and PlayOnMac version 4.4 is terminating at startup, check out my post in this thread: https://www.playonlinux.com/en/topic-17286-PlayOnMac_self_terminates_on_startup.html
