Hello,

I am building up a new machine. It runs Arch Linux (kernel 5.4.7). I use xfce as my desktop environment (4.14.0). Playonlinux is version 4.3.4 and wine 5.0 rc 3.

I installed the NIK-collection 2 software the way it successfully had worked some time ago on my former machine. All went well but there is a problem after starting one of the components, f.ex. "Silver Efex Pro 2". A window comes up which has a correct framing and even the 'file' selection at the upper left is readable and pops up correctly when selected. But the inner part of the window is some kind of 'zebra-striped garbage' that means a collection of disordered pieces.

My hardware info:

Computer
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700T CPU @ 2.80GHz
RAM 32741MB (841MB used)
Type Desktop
OS Arch Linux

Display
Resolution 1920x1080 pixels
OpenGL-Renderer Mesa DRI Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 (Skylake GT2) - driver: i915
Session Display Server [X11] The X.Org Foundation 12006000

The debugger output of Playonlinux is:

[01/02/20 11:49:41] - Running wine- Silver Efex Pro 2.exe (Working directory : /home/YYYYYY/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/NIK/drive_c/Program Files/Google/Nik Collection/Silver Efex Pro 2)

wine: Read access denied for device L"\\??\\Z:\\", FS volume label and serial are not available.
wine: Read access denied for device L"\\??\\Z:\\", FS volume label and serial are not available.

Starting the script from the commandline doesn't give more clarity to me, either:

Any idea is very welcome!

Thank You very much in advance and a happy new year!

Best regards

Stephan

Addendum: If I change the acceleration method from 'sna' to 'uxa' the inner part of the window isn't garbage any more - it becomes a completely black area instead. But it's still not useable.

Just want to add some further informations. I tried a lot of parameters but was not successful so far. Even disabling GPU-usage in the cfg-files did not help. And also a complete new creation of the Playonlinux environment, i.e. generating prefix, installation of "Microsoft Core Fonts" and "vcrun2012" and NIK-Collection didn't change the situation. Tweaking with the 'Display' configuration for my prefix (='NIK') in almost all possible ways didn't help either.

I think it must have to do with the Intel 530 graphics chip. So I try to find out, if there are other possibilities of configuration or starting parameters for POL or the NIK programs.

Any idea?

Thank You very much for even the smallest bit of help.

Stephan

Hello once again,

I could solve the problem myself after extensive trying / debugging. It showed that there was one library missing: lib32-libxcomposite .

Have a nice day.

Stephan
