Hopefully I'm posting in the right place.

I Googled the following message, 

Error in POL_Wine

Wine seems to have crashed

 

If your program is running, just ignore this message

 

And it brought me here.  Someone else made a similar post in the Linux forum.  I'm not running Linux, just this program with Wine. The program ends up getting installed and when I go to click on the start button in the launcher it just crashes. Is it possible to use only PlayOnMac without Wine or only Wine without PlayOnMac or do they have to be used in conjuction with each other?

 

My computer specs are Retina 4K, 3 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 2400 MHz DDR4, Radeon Pro 555 2048 MB, running High Sierra v 10.13.6

 

The game I'm trying to install is Villagers and Heroes and I've got a thread going over on their forums but most players on this game are PC and don't really know what I'm talking about.  There's 1 post over there about how to set up via PlayOnMac but it doesn't say anything about Wine.  It does, however, say something about XQuartz needing to be downloaded, which never actually downloaded for me, but maybe my computer doesn't need it?  I thought I saw a post about more advanced computers not needing it.

 

Well, any help that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated and I hope I've provided all the info necessary for someone who's a bit more seasoned that I when it comes to using a Mac.

Yes it is possible.

I've recently (may 2019) checked our script for this game, and there is a crash unsolved .

Perhaps trying newever versions of Wine, or some POL components may help.

New script. I played the tutorial for 20 min.

Thanks.  I reinstalled the program and didn't get any error messages about Wine during installation this time, but still got the message Error in Main after I clicked play.  I debugged and still got the same message.  I searched the word error in the file log and got this:

I don't know what any of this means, but I'm guessing you probably do and maybe you know of something that I can edit in here to make it work perhaps?

Sorry, for the above reply, I first chose to edit or update existing, and that was the result. So then I thought it best to create new, so I did a 3rd reinstallation and am still getting an error message, but there is different info in the log when I search the word error:

I confirm that you must uninstall the game from POL, then reinstall it from the new script.

 

X3DAudio1_7.dll should not be a big issue, I have sound (oS Ubuntu). Or perhaps it is related to POM, I saw POL/POM scripts with some code for audio on OSX.
