Hi,

I'm running POL 4.3.4 under Linux Mint 18.3 cinnamon 64bit and I need better understanding of "installing components" in POL.

VirtualDub is installed but needs a video-codepack to work properly.

Under configuration/install-components "DirectShowFiltersFix" is offered but outdated: POL_Download_Resource "http://filessjc01.dddload.net/static/K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1170_Basic.exe" is no longer existing. I found an actual K-Lite_Codec_Pack and downloaded it. So I could try to modify that outdated script in POL if I only knew where to find / to place it so that it will be offered in POL under configuration/install-components.

Hopefully that this is the right way to install codecs for VirtualDub. Anyway I got it working on my old 32bit computer under LM 17.3 but do not exactly remember how. At that time the script might have been working well with the ressource included.

Thanks for any advices!

I replaced the URL by an other (see here), once approved by the website admin (a few days) it will be automatically used.

Thank you so much!

As far as I understand this bash has to be started under POL/tools/run-a-local-script. Is that right?

Where that bash has to be placed for that purpose?

I estimate somewhere under

/~/USER/.PlayOnLinux/ressources

or

/~/USER/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/VirtualDub/drive_c

???

And it may NOT be merged with ffdshow, directx, xvid - only ONE codec-pack = K-lite?

Because now approved, the fixed script it can be installed as a POL component. Read http://wiki.playonlinux.com/index.php/The_Configuration_Window#.284.29_-_Install_Components_tab

Good evening!
You find me more happy than before but very confused in respect of understanding what's going on.

Installing the now approved DirectShowFiltersFix the following errors popped up:

1. File c:\windows\system32\d3d8thk.dll is missing from your windows installation. This may cause errors during codec installation or video playback. You can ignore this message if you are using WINE on Linux?? We appreciate feedback on how the pack functions when running on WINE.

2. Setup has analyzed your system and detected a problem with the DirectShow subsystem of your windows installation. Setup is unable to fix this problem. Please contact support for assistance.

3. Error:
C:\program files\k-lite codec pack\filters\DirectVobSub\vsfilter.dll
Unable to register the DLL/OCX RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0xFFFFFFFFF.
Click Retry to try again, Ignore to proceed anyway (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation.

After cancelling installation VirtualDub run better than before: It has sound now and no longer ALL frames are shown as key-frames. I'll test to cut off advertising from some videos and report if VirtualDub is fully operable now.
