Hello Quentin & everyone,

apologies as this post as it's not directly related to PoM, but I've been asking everywhere and so far I couldn't find a solution to the problem.

I am on Mojave 14.3 and I am using wine 4.0 installed via homebrew. I am trying to install Office 2010 in a win=32 prefix but the installer always crashes, returning a 1603 error. I've done some digging and it seems the crash is related to the lack of Samba in my system (Apple ditched it since 10.7).
Installing Office 2010 with PoM works (good work there!) and indeed I saw the script pulling a samba3.tar.gz resource, confirming the problem.

Now, I would rather not use PoM for Office2010, there's a documented problem with the anti-aliasing of the fonts, so I need to somehow make samba available to my wine installation in the prefix I use for Office2010. I am really not that much tech savvy, can the author of that cool script give me a step by step noob-proof guide about it?

Thanks!

Hi,

The best would be to fix the anti aliasing problem with PoM (which would not be too hard).

The other option for you is to look how it works on the Office 2010 script. (Supported software section). In fact, AFAIK, you just need to have winbind executable

Hi Quentin, thank you for your reply.

I would very much like to use PoM, how can I fix the antialiasing problem? I tried downgrading to an earlier version of Xquartz, but I seem to recall that you don't use it in PoM?

I did look at your script and tried to reverse engeneering it, so far the (cumbersome) solution I found is to install xcode and compile samba with macports. It gets the job done, but i am sure there are better ways.

As for winbind, I don't know where to get it or where to put in on mac os (unlike in linux, where apt get takes care of the problem).

Any help is always welcome!

Can you send screenshot of your antialasing problem?
