starseed-pl	Hello everyone. Thanks for checking out my thread. I have been getting into Linux a lot. Im not a very big gamer. I mostly do 3D modeling, image manipulation, and digital arts, which is so much better in Linux so far. What Im trying to is get the games that I do have running in Linux so I can completely dump windows. for an AVP2 .iso that is currently mounted, idk ^_^ Ok I have held on to a near mint copy of Fox / Sierra's Aliens vs Predator 2, which is probably my favorite shooter ever. I still play this game via LAN with my kids in Windows 7 from time to time. People are still maintaining the master server patch, so I beleive online play is still possible. I am installing with CD's not the .iso's and crack, which I do have as well for my own simplicities sake. Error# 0x80040702 Description: Failed to load dll: dsetup : Setup will Now Terminate Note: I have experienced this error in a Wndows 7 machine in the past. The way I got around it was I reinstalled Windows 7 several times until it worked. Whenever I reached any sort of registry error in win7 I would give up, but for AVP2, I would reinstall no matter how long it takes or how many hard-drives I burn out... Tutul	What a nice complete post, a long time since the last one XD maybe too complete (don't really need all your PCI informations ^^). Have you any idea about the version the CDs have ? You can usually find guide on "how to install" and "can it run" here Nobody test it since a long time, the CD seems to work on older wine version (with winxp instead of win7). Maybe you can try first to set wine to winxp, and if it fail with the same error, try an older wine version (1<<2) in winxp mode ? starseed-pl	Thank you much for your reply. I figured I'd put it all out there since it may help some one in the future with figuring out their issues with a similar situation. The CDs are 1.0.9.1 and I have the patch to .9.6 (latest) installer also as well as the tools and the latest master server patch. I even stil remember how to unwrap skins / meshes and everything with dedit. I want to make some new levels and play this game in Linux. ohhh you know, realistic goals >; Here is what I did: I installed 64bit WinXP and treid 2.20 staging becuase it was rated a gold test on link you provided (thanks again). everything was set to default and libraries were set to native. I installed these libraries just how the contributer did in the above link : devenum dmband dmcompos dmime dmloader dmscript dmstyle dmsynth dmusic same error occured after the installer finished. Im going to try an older Wine next since I noticed another game Im having trouble installing is 1.something (Oblivion) . I like to pick the hard ones or I'm just totally lost. starseed-pl	Ok, I set the drive to WinXP and I bypassed that error by installing the above libraries, and then during the install process I chose not to install directX 8, wich comes with the installer. Doh! I should have known! I got it to install and even managed to update to 1.0.9.6 and installed a mod I made 10 years ago. I also installed a few map packs to make single player more interesting. I used 3.10-staging as well as 2.20-staging. The game runs great, visually, but at first it had really bad audio echoing and poping. I installed xact and xaudio after the first run because those libraries fixed my Skyrim and Fallout audio problems. After setting dsound to Native the echoing went away. So it seems that it runs perfect! The only issue now is the infamouse lithtech.exe CTD. I remember this problem on a few windows 7 machines I had in the past. An old i7 920 machine I still have doesnt run AVP2 very well. It randomly crashes to desktop with the lithtech.exe, but the 3 newer machines I've built have never had the lithtech.exe crash problem (knock on wood) Here is the debug log from this install and recent runs: [11/21/18 20:23:48] - starseed-pl	I changed it to Windows 7 and just played through the first 2 levels with Predator and an online deathmatch with someone. It ran perfect. It runs way better than in my Windows machines. There is no screen tearing at all in a 1024x768 emulated desktop with the game at same resolution and disabled tripple buffering. (options set at game launcher) Thank you guys so much! Im so sorry about the legnth and the HORRIBLE AUDIO.. I yelled yes because I left the game audio so loud I'd have to yell over it hahahaha.
