PlayOnLinux fails to start

I'm aware there are a couple threads already about this topic, but none of those solutions have worked for me thus far. (If this post needs to be removed because of that, please let me know where to post my question)

I'm currently using Parrot OS. When I run PlayOnLinux, it tells me to please install python first. However, I have python 2.7.15 available. I have edited the find_python file to include the /usr/local/bin/python text (even tried variations), but the application still requests python.

I have reinstalled both python and playonlinux.

When running sudo playonlinux, it actually shows my python version, but you can't run playonlinux as root, so it doesn't actually start. Running playonlinux directly after the sudo attempt, it still recommends I install python, which is on my system already.

I'm at a loss and will gladly welcome any advice.

I'm still relatively new to linux as a whole, but I can follow any directions you give me to a T.

Thank you

It's POL or you system (or consol) that request Python ?

The menu shortcut and desktop icon both do nothing when clicked, so I try to run through console.

When I run with sudo, I get:

Looking for usr/local/bin...
Looking for python... 2.7.15+ - wxversion(s): 3.0-gtk3
selected
PlayOnLinux is not supposed to be run as root. Sorry

When I run without sudo:

Looking for usr/local/bin...
Looking for python...
Looking for python2.7...
Looking for python2.6...
Looking for python2...
Please install python before trying to run this program

Parent is shutting down, bye...

I assume this means that POL is the one requesting python. Please correct me if I am wrong.

EDIT:

To add information, I'm running a fresh install of:

Linux version 4.18.0-parrot8-amd64 (gcc version 7.3.0 (Debian 7.3.0-28)) #1 SMP Parrot 4.18.6-1parrot8 (2018-09-07)

With an Nvidia gtx-960m, fully updated.

Can you check if your normal user can access python by running a script or opening the python consol ?

Yes my normal user can open the python console and run python scripts without the use of sudo or being root.

I'm not familliar with that distribution. But I see that's a debian based so I'm not sure why you get that error. Maybe someone else may have a solution. I'll try to find someway to help you later

No worries! I'm aware it's not a very common distro, but I still wanted to try regardless. Thanks for your help so far. I'll keep checking back regularly to see if anyone has any more questions or possible solutions!

Bump.

Has anyone been able to create a version of this and get PoL working?
