See if someone in here can help me figure out what is being done different here.

The game Star Wars Empire at War Gold Pack. I have it in multiple forms. Disks, GoG and Steam. This post is regarding the Steam version. On Steam they have where you can use Mods by going in the Workshop and subscribing to them. Those mods then show up in a Mods section of the in game menu under options which you then select and it reloads the game with that mod enabled. I'm trying to see why something is acting different between PlayOnLinux/WINE and SteamPlay/Proton.

In PlayOnLinux I installed the game and everything works great. Go to the workshop, subscribe to the mod. It downloads the mod. I go in game and see it in the Mods menu section, select it and it loads and plays fine.

Using SteamPlay. Game installs and launches fine. Plays fine. Go into the Workshop and subscribe to some mods. They download. Launch the game and go to the Mods menu section and some mods show in the list and some don't.

What could possibly be being done different between Proton and WINE where one will show and subscribed and downloaded mod and the other will not? I'm not the only one with the issue. I got another guy to post on the github page that has the same issue.

Here is the Proton issue I created. But they have a lot to work on right now so I wont see movement anytime soon probably.  https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/584

Proton is wine based (with additional VR support). They use a custom wine version and you can found both on their github. Proton seems to have some weird support for some games. A friend got some menu option that disapear. But suspect DRM protiction fail to be the main cause. Don't forget that proton is quite new and need to be improve. And some games come with Wine specific DRM (within themself or some windows libraries).

This is a huge deal, because thousands of users around the world were prevented before from fully switching to Linux due to the limitations of the gaming experience on Linux mykfcexperience. Some big titles were never ported to Linux and remained Windows-only, and those which were ported had many glitches.
