AOE 2 not working... help please

justwannaplay	Open up steam with PlayonMac. AOE is on my game list and status is "ready to play". Try launching it and a pop up says "performing first time setup" a bar loads then nothign happens. The status in steam says running for about 1 second before saying ready to play again. Total newbie so any help would be appreciated.
