Numbers that are variables in game show as ##0 or $##0

On every game I have tried so far any number that is a variable (like unit cost or money owned) shows up as ##0 or $##0. Anyone seen this before?

 

Games I have tried so far: 8 Bit Armies and Forged Battalion. Both RTS and both have the same problem.
