This problem has existed for months now and I originally thought it has something to do with Wine versions, but now I'm experiencing it with every version of Wine.
Open PlayOnLinux
Create a virtual drive
Copy a game or exe into the drive_c directory
Go to Configure in PlayOnLinux
General Tab
Click "Create an exe in this virtual drive"
It will begin scanning for exe's
A Wine window will pop up with the path to your virtual drive
For some reason there will be some double slashes: //
Hang indefinitely...
The only work-around I have it alt-tabbing back to Configure, clicking the Wine Tab and "Kill all processes"
This will kill the pop-up window and the shortcut process will continue.

Try "winre-reboot" before, it's seem that you wineprefix isn't correct

Sorry, I thought I had subscribed to my own post...
This actually happens on just about every wineprefix (Virtual Drive) I create manually.
Strange because when I do a manual installation and get to the PlayOnLinux Shortcut, it works fine, but if I create a shortcut through PlayOnLinux Configure, I experience the hanging symptoms.

Did you try what I propose ?
Also check log to see any wine related messages

So do I add that command in the arguments in Configure?
Or are you just saying to go to the Wine Tab and click Windows Reboot?
Now that I think about it... wine likes to hang sometimes even between launching/killing games. So maybe wineserver or something is still running when I try to create a shortcut.

So click "Windows Reboot" before creating a new shortcut in the Virtual Drive?
I'll give it a try, but gamers shouldn't have to do this every time they want another shortcut.
Thanks for your help!!!

It's only to see if the hang come from wine refreshing the wineserver or with something else. Btw POL isn't in charge of wine.

True, but I have a feeling it is POL related since it happens with multiple versions of Wine and different Virtual Drives.

I use the Ubuntu partition on my laptop as my main/work desktop and I barely use Windows because I have all the programs and applications I need on Ubuntu even Windows programs like Adobe Photoshop cleanmaster.
