Hey there.  First off, I'll totatlly admit that this is a completely asthetic issue but I'd like to know the answer nevertheless. 

 

In Cinnamon, my mouse cursor is themed as OpenZone but in a normal POL window its Oxygen.  Strangely, the cursor is OpenZone when I'm on a window boarder, but once I move it inside the acutal window it switches to Oxygen.  I'm going to guess that this would be the same for Gnome, Mate, and other gtk-based desktops as well. It doesn't really matter which theme each is, the key is that they're different.   

 

How can I go about fixing the appearance so it's the same no matter which window I'm in?

In case anybody else cares about this strange behavior, I figured out how to fix it myself.  You can fix it by manually editing several "index.theme" files as well as "~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini" but its easier to use lxappearance.  Regardless of which distro you're using, installing it is easy.  For Debian/Ubuntu/Mint use "sudo apt install lxappearance", for Arch/Manjaro/Antergos use "yaourt -S lxappearance --noconfirm".  I'm not very familiar with Fedora and other RPM-based distros, but I'm guessing it's the same.

 

Launch it and select the cursor you actually want to use.  Then launch it again as root using "sudo" and select the cursor again.

 

If you did everything properly, the next time you run your POL application, the cursor should be the same inside and outside the window itself.

That is really strange.  I've never noticed if my mouse changes in PlayOnLinux.  natually games will have their own mouse style, so it has never bothered me.
