I am using Ubuntu 16.04, I have PlayOnLinux installed and running. I tried installing Adobe Lightroom 5 and I get met with the error below.
Error in POL_Wine
Wine seems to have crashed
If your program is running, just ignore this message
Last time I skipped past this and got to the stage of downloading a 1MB file and it says that the download had an error and asked to try again, after many re-tries I gave up. (I have sufficent space on my hard-drive).

You should try to use latest wine staging (2.14), and set windows version in winecfg to windows 7

Wine updated and settings set. When installing Lightroom, I click it from the list and it says to browse for the install file. It immediately selects playonlinux>python>lib>Variables.py and I get the same errors. I tried running the CreativeCloudSetup.exe through it under the Lightroom option I get an error. I tried running WinTricks and installing WME9 but get this error and I'm not sure how to change it because this is the install error I get everytime I try to install Lightroom.
You are using a 64-bit WINEPREFIX. If you encounter problems, please retest in a clean 32-bit WINEPREFIX before reporting a bug.

I click it from the list
If you click it from the POL list, it will use the option inside the POL script, you should try a manual install.
PS : Tell me if it's working, so that I make a POL5 script ;)

PS2 : only the 32 bits version of adobe lightroom 5 seems to be working.
PS3 : You could need to install gdi+
