Hi everyone,

This is my first posting here.

I came upon this PlayOnMac software some time ago and was intrigued with the possibility of playing one of my favorite PC games - Neverwinter Nights (the old one by Bioware) on my Mac, which has now become my main computer. That being said, I have some questions that I'd like to get answers to, just to clarify how this will work

1. PlayOnMac is apparently designed to work with the GOG version of NWN. Will it work with a legal CD copy of NWN Diamond Edition, if I install it into my Mac's attached external CD-ROM drive and select the installer on that drive by installing via the GOG-Neverwinter option?

2. How do I install patches, like the final NWN 1.69 patch? Does this have to be done via PlayOnMac or can it be done within the file directory via Finder?

3. When using PlayOnMac to play NWN, is it possible to add some of the community content like CEP, realistic fists,  other hakpacks, Player's Resource Consortium (https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/hakpak/original-hakpak/player-resource-consortiums-prc-pack-v35) and if so, how to do it?

4. What I want to do is to be able to play NWN at home on my local network via multiplayer. Do I need to have a unique CD key for each installation on my local computers to make local network play happen?

5. Will NWN v 1.69 via PlayOnMac be compatible with PC's running NWN v 1.69 for local multiplayer play?

Thanks. I would appreciate hearing from other players who go it working on their Macs.

Not so long ago, GOG was giving customers a free DLC of NWN ver 1.69.  I am not on a Mac, but it seems to be working just fine. When I buy games from GOG (Good Old Games) they remove the need for CD keys.  I just run the installer and everything works.  I have never had any issues with the company to that effect.

I don't know about modding the existing models but the built in game editor seems to work well. The only thing I looked up on the internet was my portrait which you can customize with a paint program such as GIMP. You have to add it using commands from the console.

Multiplayer is limited to LAN, as far as I know, there is no official network to hook up with other players.  You will be prompted for name and password, it takes less than a minute for the game to give up and ask you about a LAN game.  This is where you will need to hook up via IP address 192.168.1.## for local stuff  and if you plan a long distance connection you are going to need your friend's IP and they will need yours.

I also get a "Game Spy" screen when selecting the Join Internet connect, I know even less about "Game Spy" but that is up to you to decide to use or not. But the direct connection should work, I just never tested it.  My hubby is more computer aware than I, and told me you could open a can of worms with a shared IP. So you need to trust the individuals you play with on the other end.

I hope this answers some or most of your questions.  NWN is a great game, I was playing NW D&D but now I have to access it only through my HP Laptop on Windows 10, it seems they upgraded last year and made the game DX 10 and 11 only, but still runs in a 32 bit environment.  My laptop is having issues now that the tech support can't answer. :(

What about working with a legal CD of the game? If I ask it to install the GOG NWN, then put my Diamond Edition NWN in the CD Rom and direct it there, will it work? I have the CD somewhere but can't locate it at the moment, trying to decide if it's worth the effort to find it.
