I'm trying to run the Steam game Dark Souls III (Direct X 11) but am unable to type keys in the Steam login window. Previously I was able to install SteamSetup.exe.

The following Wine libraries are installed:

d3dx11_42

d3dx11_43

The following OS is used: Windows 8.1

Wine version: 2.9

Debugging the program, I find these error messages:

[0603/174647.479:ERROR:network_change_notifier_win.cc(170)] WSALookupServiceBegin failed with: 8

wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address 0x10779888 (thread 004b), starting debugger...

err:winediag:xrandr12_init_modes Broken NVIDIA RandR detected, falling back to RandR 1.0. Please consider using the Nouveau driver instead.

IPC client is in my process, could/should be using an in-process pipe.fixme:win:UnregisterDeviceNotification (handle=0xcafecafe), STUB!

As you can see on this page :

Steam in wine 2.9 has a garbage value. You can also see that wine 2.7 seems to work :

https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=19444&iTestingId=98043

(Very complete test results)

So you can try wine 2.7 for steam

For Dark souls 3, it's an heavily D3D11 game, I doubt it will work -> https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=17488
