I'd be very appreciative if someone could give me some constructive advice on how to resolve the issue so I can launch my games again.

For p11_kit, the POL wiki say that maybe the package isn't installed. You can so try :

sudo apt-get install p11-kit-modules:i386

There is also somethng about symlink, you can read and see if it concern you.

http://wiki.playonlinux.com/index.php/Troubleshooting_Common_Problems#p11-kit:_couldn.27t_load_module:_...

For Star trek Online, try Wine 2.9-staging, and/or this :

Set  the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Wine Direct3D MaxVersionGL" key to 30002

I installed the p-11-kit-module first and this is the result:

Then I installed the 2.9 staging wine version to the Star Trek Online and tried that:

I appreciate all of your assistance so far. :)

I couldn't find a "MaxVersionGL" folder in the Registry, so I couldn't do that change.

I think it's only fair to let you know that if this problem is still unresolved by the time I wake up, I'm going to wipe the drive and reinstall. This is just taking way too long. I'm sorry, and thanks again for what help you did render.

If you can't find it, you must create it, I should have mention that...

STO need directX10.

Verify you have OpenGL 3.x minimum with this

glxinfo | grep "OpenGL version"

And try to create the key (it worked for a lot of users, you can look a t the STO thread on the forum)

It seems I don't have OpenGL:

amii@Basically ~ $ glxinfo | grep "OpenGL version"

Minor opcode of failed request:  6 (X_GLXIsDirect)

I just tried to install OpenGL, then ran that command again. Same response. Time to wipe the drive and reinstall.

Namaste and thanks for what help you were.

OpenGL (like Direct3D) is a programming interface, basically a set of functions that allow programmers to use them to code their 3D program. The implementation of them is provided by drivers . So you can't "not have OpenGL"...

"GLX Renderer: N/A GLX Version: N/A Direct Rendering: N/A"
This line is weird. Are you using nouveau or nvidia proprietary driver ?

Do you have intel + nvidia GPU ?

Something here that could interest you :
https://askubuntu.com/questions/472928/correct-nvidiaintel-graphics-setup-in-14-04

Or this :

https://askubuntu.com/questions/684340/which-nvidia-driver-is-needed-for-a-gt-610-graphics-card

Be careful when deleting package (or playing with ppa) !
