Hello,

I am trying to get battle.net to work and I am having an error with the battle.net helper. I noticed in the winehq page had this to say

To prevent "Battle.net Helper.exe" from crashing install Core TTF Fonts from Microsoft:

• Arch: aur/ttf-ms-fonts

• Debian/Ubuntu: contrib/ttf-mscorefonts-installer

• openSUSE: fetchmsttfonts

• Reboot may be necessary for changes to take effect

• Alternatively you can install corefonts using winetricks

  winetricks corefonts

So I did winetricks corefonts in my terminal. However, I am unsure if the wine from playonlinux is able to recognize it. I have playonlinux virtual drives in my ubuntu home directory, and I don't know where the corefonts were configured. Anyway, this is the error I get. I am wondering how I can fix this.

What steps did you follow with the Play On Linux program? I think you're getting a bit muddled. I recently setup the battle.net client with POL and I didn't get snagged like you, so keep up the hope!

Here, try this:

1) 64-bit prefix, use Wine 2.0-staging (so you can turn on CSMT)
2) Turn CSMT on (this is a setting in the wine config area)
3) In the wine config area, go to libraries, for each line below, type it in, hit add, and then hit edit on each one added to set to the corresponding setting below:

--"*winhttp" native/builtin
--"*wininet" native/builtin
--"api-ms-win-crt-conio-l1-1-0" native
--"api-ms-win-crt-heap-l1-1-0" native
--"api-ms-win-crt-locale-l1-1-0" native
--"api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0" native/builtin
--"api-ms-win-crt-stdio-l1-1-0" native/builtin
--"d3d11" disabled
--"msvcp140" native/builtin
--"ucrtbase" native
--"vcruntime140" native/builtin

Just copy paste the text between the quotes, including the asterisk symbol on the ones that have it.

4) Go to the packages section for this new section, and install:

• Microsoft Core Fonts
• vcrun2010
• vcrun2012
• dxdx9
• winhttp

5) You need to use winetricks to install vcrun2015, but this part is a bit tricky. Install winetricks in your distribution, locate where the prefix is that PlayOnLinux made for this battle.net install space, then you're going to need to tell winetricks to install vcrun2015 to this prefix : https://www.playonlinux.com/en/issue-5291.html
6) THEN install the battle.net client in that prefix.
7) Now the installed battle.net should work.
