The first thing I did here was to follow the instructions to install play on linux. I entered the command-
sudo echo "foreign-i386 architecture"> /etc/dpkg/dpkg.cfg.d/multiarch
The results-
bash: /etc/dpkg/dpkg.cfg.d/multiarch: permission denied
I entered the nest command just to see what it would say-
sudo apt-get install wine:1386
It listed 158 packages and a whole lot of other suggested packages which I am reluctant to install because I don't believe the first command did what it should. If the first command had worked it would have said- okay or somehow verified that the settings had been changed to support i386. I'm on a 64bit machine with a 64bit install. I'm reluctant to use your software if the very first command you mention to use doesn't work, unless the problem I've described is normal and the install works correctly. When I checked on this forum for a solution the first 3-4 posts I noticed were that this site is out of date, wiki is out of date, the repositories are out of date. What is going on around here? I'm not bitching, I just want to know if I should move on from this before I spend hours trying to make this work, lol. Is there another webpage to find this software with updated info? I would love to play Skyrim on linux to see if I get better performance than I did on windows 8, which I have finally wiped off of my laptop for good, lol. Help?
