I know this is open source and all your development is done for free. But your documentation is woeful. Tried to use the "auto" script for Microsoft Office 2007 For Windows which failed and there was no tips on how to set up your install folder etc. Took a punt myself as a manual installation without the script and managed to get it working.

So, for this I must say Thanks. I needed to get my partner's Macbook working with MS Office we've always used, and that's been achieved.

Next, printing. Fail. Yup, zero. Zilch. What is CUPS and where is this all done??!

Users of PoM are not tech experts, we're exactly that - dumb users. We don't have hours and days to develop a fix.

My solution to get Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2007 printing? I installed Libre Office For Mac, open the MS Office files and print.

Sorry, only half my intended PayPal donation gals and guys....

Plus I have a business that wants to get Macs but also use QuickBooks For Windows on their Macs. I thought I could suggest PoM to them. And others too, who want to get away from Windows 10. And its just a handful of "must have" apps they need.

Pity that can't happen.

Hello dear,

I have been this problem, and installled lpr packages to solve this. See in the directory /etc/printcap, if there is this file, after install package. I hope that this help you to solve your problem. My system is: mint mate 64 on core i5 laptop, and I installed the libcups-pdf too, and cups packages in general. I installed playonlinux and then installed office 2007 32 bits.

Because I am from Brazil, I take sorry about my english, :-).... so long!

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I might never do this though, it really seems complicated for me. Merry Christmas!

Hi, guys!

I've tryed to follow Kaleo's suggestion and scr***wd my linux... It did not fix, mess it all and was hell to get rid of the modifications.

After researching printing files structure etc, I've found an better solution! It seems that some distro doesn't point to the right printcap file.. So, tha's what I did:

First, make sure you have CUPS installed:

     sudo apt-get install cups cups-pdf

then, if you have it, backup original printcap

     sudo mv  /etc/printcap /etc/printcap.bkp

now create a symlink to the CUPS' printcap. In my case it was at /var/run/cups/
     ln -s /var/run/cups/printcap /etc/printcap

Hope it fix things to you guys

By the way, Kaleo, your english made mine looks like native speaker's
hehehehe... Sou brasileiro tb!

Hey, thanks edoomaki.  I’ve since abandoned PoM but will keep your info in mind if I ever attempt to use PoM or PoL again.
