Trouble installing wineasio on 16.04

I'm having trouble installing Wineasio, any help will be appreciated:

Setup:

  • Intel Quadprocessor
  • 12gb ram
  • Echo Audiofire 2

Steps:

  1. I've installed Jack: sudo apt-get install jack
  2. I've installed Qjackctl: sudo apt-get install qjackctl
  3. I've started Qjackctl and setup the options to: Driver=firewire
  4. Then I've started the server and I have a successful startup. I haven't set up any of the patchbay stuff to actually get it working yet as I haven't needed to...Ubuntu 16.04 now has builtin firewire support for the audiofire. I'm just trying to get the wineasio install working for now.
  5. I then try and install the wineasio component in my ableton prefix. It starts the process by downloading the dll but then it fails at the end: Error in source
    Failed to register wineasio.dll. Please verify you have the needed dependencies and try again.

I am also having the same problem. Looking at the wineprefix for Guitar Rig it looks like there's a log file which may provide useful information to get this issue resolved (sorry for the long post, wish this forum had a minimizable code block or smthg).
