I really like PlayOnLinux, but I can't understand why it needs to install Wine to the current PC user, if it's going to use another version of Wine for the application and it can use that version for anything related to the install of software.

Is there any easy way to install PlayOnLinux without Wine installed at /usr/bin/wine ?

I'm not sure why Wine at /usr/bin/wine is hurting anything.  I normally install Wine with the Software Installer in Mint. Then I install PlayOnLinux.  After that I never touch the Wine installation again.  I stick with using different versions of Wine in PlayOnLinux's Wine Manager

Err, short answer is that it probably could be installed elsewhere, but you'll need to manually edit everything yo change the links, unless you have a softlink and deal with any resulting problems.
