Silent Hunter 5 UPlay problem

Steam Version crashing

I tried launching SH5 today, and it immediately crashed, so I installed the ubigamelauncher through POL's install components. Then I tried launching SH5 again, and this time the Uplay launcher appeared, and started updating Uplay. AT the end, Uplay crashed and everytime I try launching SH5, I get a message telling me that Uplay.exe has crashed. I uninstalled Uplay and tried again with crypt32 installed, and now I get an Error Code 1 from the Ubisoft Game Launcher.

I'd appreciate any help with this laugh

Whenever I have played a Steam game that required Uplay (Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood & Revelations) I would install Uplay ahead of time manually.  Once it launched properly, then downloading the game in Steam and launching would allow Uplay to automatically launch and I could play.

What version of Wine are you using?

I'm using my system wine version, which I don't know. Installing Uplay manually beforehand worked, but now it is stuck at looking for patches.

Yes, I've seen this problem as well.  I think it has something to do with that crypt32.dll

But try downloading the newest stable version of Wine with PlayOnLinux's Wine Manager.

Look for Wine 1.8
Download it and then go to Configure and switch from Default to Wine 1.8

Relaunch Uplay and see if it finishes the patching and updating.
You may have to start over, but I hope not

Are you able to launch it from Steam then from Uplay?
I would always run Uplay offline once it starts working.  This way I don't have to worry about any updates breaking the game.

Once I start it, it launches Uplay and then the game.
