How can I execute an other .exe after starting the game?

I'm trying to use a trainer in a game, but it needs to be opened after the game is open, but I couldn't figure how to do that, because I can't minimize the game and even if I could, I dunno where I would launch it.

How can I achieve that?

  1. Alt+Tab to PlayOnLinux
  2. Click Configure
  3. Click Miscellaneous Tab
  4. Click Run an exe file in this virtual drive

I don't think you can run programs in more than one virtual drive at a time, but this allows you to execute two programs at the same time in the same virtual drive

Well, it opens the trainer. But the trainer doesn't recognize the game. Any ideas?

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to do with the "trainer"
Is this a no-cd crack?

Nope. It's kinda of mod, who can alter things inside the game on the fly.

Hmm, from which location are you starting the trainer? Try executing it in the Download directory of the virtual drive.

There's no download directory in the virtual drive. Tried in other few places, though.

What game and mod are you trying to play?
Start from the beginning and explain how you installed the game and what you are trying to do.
This might help us to diagnose if it is possible.

I've played a few mods in PlayOnLinux:

  • Unreal Tournament 3 mods
  • Elder Scrolls III:  Morrowind mods
  • Half-Life 2 mod Black Mesa
  • Frets on Fire mods
  • Quake II mods

All of these worked just fine.

It's RollerCoaster Tycoon 2, from GoG. The trainer name's 8Cars.

Just installed it, selected the installation .exe, finished then started. The game works fine, just need to make the trainer be able to recognize the game. In Windows I would launch the game and then just alt-tab to somewhere else and start the trainer.

RCT2, that is random...

You can Alt+Tab in PlayOnLinux as well, but try this first:
Run RCT2 by clicking "Debug" instead of Run

Then a window will appear with errors and bugs.
Once RCT2 is launched, Alt+Tab back to PlayOnLinux and go to Configure, then the misc tab and launch the trainer.  If it crashes or does nothing, close RCT2 and check the debug window to see what errors it produced.

Post them here if you need to

One more thing...
You can also put the trainer in the virtual drive "Program Files" folder
Then in Configure, General Tab, click "Make a new shortcut in this virtual drive"
Select the trainer.exe
Now you have a shortcut to it so you can select it and click "Run" after Alt+Tab

Well, didn't see nothing different, like an error who could be related to this problem:

Try using a newer version of Wine:  1.7.55 or 1.8-rc4

That 1.6.2 is "stable" but old... 1.8 is going to be the new "stable" version really soon

Both 1.7.55 and 1.8-rc4 didn't work.

Dang, I have RCT2 but never tried a mod
Heck, I've never played it in Wine before

Maybe I'll give it a try this weekend, just got to find the disc
