Today, kernel 3.13.0-58 was updated to 3.13.0-59 on Ubuntu.

Now, whenever I try to start a Windows program in PlayOnLinux, it crashes.

PlayOnLinux suggests using the Debug option, but the log doesn't show anything special; the following are all the lines from today in playonlinux.log from Quicken's folder.

[07/28/15 14:59:02] - Running wine- QW.EXE (Working directory : /home/paddy/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/Quicken/drive_c/quickenw)
[07/28/15 15:00:56] - Running wine- QW.EXE (Working directory : /home/paddy/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/Quicken/drive_c/quickenw)
[07/28/15 15:01:09] - Running wine- QW.EXE (Working directory : /home/paddy/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/Quicken/drive_c/quickenw)
[07/28/15 15:29:51] - Running wine- QW.EXE (Working directory : /home/paddy/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/Quicken/drive_c/quickenw)
[07/28/15 15:36:38] - Running wine- QW.EXE (Working directory : /home/paddy/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/Quicken/drive_c/quickenw)
[07/28/15 15:36:55] - Running wine- QW.EXE (Working directory : /home/paddy/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/Quicken/drive_c/quickenw)

When I reboot into the previous kernel 3.13.0-58, it again works; but back into 3.13.0-59 and it fails. I have tested this with both Quicken and Publisher.

What can I do to diagnose and fix this, please?

  • Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit
  • Wine 1.6.2

Thank you.

Thank you. That bug was linked to bug #1479093.

A new kernel, 3.13.0-61, was released today, and it solves the issue.

Pleased to know that it wasn't a problem with POL.
