So I've thrown in every single fix and I'm feeling like POL and wine is useless but anyway.
I keep getting this same error I tried installing pol directX and dotnet 30 and 20 using wine 1.7.33 
tried disableing steam overlay din't fix it. 
also there is no information on the wineHQ for running Dwarfs so that's nice

I'm feeling like POL and wine is useless but anyway.

You are not olbligated to use it. Thousands of people would disagree about it being useless. We are volunteers, and this is a community project. If you are having problems with something you do not fully understand, fine, but to demean the project does not make anyone want to help you. You are always more than welcome to try another solution or use Windows. Just food for thought...

 

also there is no information on the wineHQ for running Dwarfs so that's nice

That is not our fault. Wine, like us, is a community project, and apparently no one has (a) got it working through Wine, (b) tested it on Wine, or (c) tested it and posted results. 

We also need your full computer specs (Linux distro, graphics card and driver, etc..).
