Installation problem: negative disk space available

I know this is related to having a virtual disk on a harddrive that is > 1TB. The game installer (Starfleet Command III) sees negative disk space available, and will not proceed. Is there a workaround (beyond something gruesome like creating a small partion, aliasing to it so PlayOnMac creates the vitual drive there, then copying back to the main drive).  Thanks.....

"Try setting the Windows version to Windows 98" says the Wine FAQ (5.7)

So if you're dealing with "Installing a non-listed program" like I assume, make sure "Configure Wine" is selected among the things to tweak, then when winecfg pops up, select "Windows 98" in the Applications tab.

If that doesn't work, or if it doesn't like to run in Windows 98 compatibility mode, then you'll have to create a smaller filesystem etc as you suggested. That looks like a stupid bug for a 2002 game, too.

Thanks but the Win 98 suggestion didn't work.

Too bad, maybe (being a little late game) it's suffering from a different overflow.

Maybe the problem can be fixed by overriding (thru dynamic libraries) the statvfs() and fstatvfs() Linux system calls? I didn't find any package that does such thing, so unless you're ready for some C programming I don't think there's a simpler solution... :/
