Here is the link to my repo with the image resources for FInal Fantasy III. Could we upload these when we get the chance, please? I am going to be posting up the resources for Final Fantasy IV in a few minutes, as well.

Thanks! :)

UbuntuStudiox64

wine 1.7.35

geforce gtx670

Intell dual core 2.66ghz

Steam

I'm not using an installer I'm using steam when I click the launcher.exe it blinks and nothing happens. I tried debug mode and it lists a bunch of Qt5 errors and a dnsapi.dll error all of them are either in the system32 folder or the games .exe directory. The same exact output is happening for final fantasy 3 and 4 and they both have this weird platforms folder in their directory with a qwindows.dll....So I ndeed to know what dependacies this game needs to run...

PLEASE HELP

Please don't type PLEASE HELP in your posts. It is not a weird folder. It is simply a place that their program is expecting to find it's libraries. Completely normal. The developers must have updated their launcher, because when I wrote the scripts for both of these FF releases, there were no errors like that at all (the screenshots came off of my system, and I actually beat FF3 through POL with this). QT5 is known to throw errors in Wine, and I don't know if it has been fixed yet. The only thing that I can think of is that the developers upgraded the GUI to use QT5 in their launcher, hence the crash. Can you post the full debug log here?

You can try to install QT5 for Windows into that virtual drive. Basically, FF3_Launcher.exe is looking for all of those .dlls, all of which should be in a folder relative to it. You can try to take all of those files and put them in the same folder as FF3_Launcher.exe, as that will be one of the first folders that it will look, then it will check that platform folder. That is really the only issue. Make sure every .dll that says that it is missing is in the same folder as the .exe, and it should find them. If not, then I am not sure why it is not finding those .dlls. It is for sure an issue just with where they are stored, but it most programs will check in their own folder first, then the location of the dlls listed in it's programming (in this case, the platforms folder), then the system32 folder. This is not something that can be fixed with POL if you are having problems with it. You will have to manually place the .DLLs where the program can find them. If it still cannot find them, then it is likely an issue with Wine.

Again, I don't know what the developers changed, as I was not having QT5 issues when I wrote the script and played the game a while back.

I GOT IT TO WORK! Sorry about the caps lol heres what needs to be added.

1. Download offical dnsapi.dll I found one here that works http://download.dll-files.com/ff0ee1b87e5dd7a82f7bb124d5ca8bb6/dnsapi.zip?0XEfTGVImT

2. Rename to DNSAPI.dll

3.In Configure Wine set this dnsapi.dll to Native Then Built In

4 Launch Steam

5. Launch Final Fantasy 3

Yes quiet a bit of googling actually lol. This fix worked for Final Fantasy 3 and 4 so all steam downloaded Final Fantasys are currently working under playonlinux at this time. Especially those that have the qt5 update. I'm getting slight stuttering at times during cinematics. Did you experience this Ronin is there a fix as the graphical settings for these games is rudimentary at best?

No, not at all. It actually ran flawlessly. I mean, no stuttering except a bit when it FIRST starts, but nothing that is a showstopper. To be honest, I couldn't have asked for a better experience when I played it. You have the proprietary drivers installed for your graphics card, right? The open-source Nouveau driver for Nvidia cards is not up-to-par for gaming yet.
