Hi there, i saw "This Script for POL , but i search in the POL Client and i cant install from the PlayOnLinux client , well .

I had make Manaull installation , using "Wine 1.5.28-Origin"

Its Very Slow for Download , you can Fix That , after you install , login , without download or install game , exit from Origin , and now apply "This Patch for Origin December 2014" put that file in "~./PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/Origin/drive_c/Program Files/Origin" from the CLI appy the patch with command line

python patch_qt5network_wine.py

Now start again the Origin , Start the Download , and you can note are much more faster.

Well  my problem its , when the Origin Client Install a Game , and pass some minutes , the hard disk are do nothing , but the origin show "Insllation" , follow WIneHQ , you must kill with

killall -9 EAProxyInstaller.exe

But some strange pass on my pc , that "EAProxyInstaller.exe" never are launched from my pc
Because of that i can't never finish the installation in the right way , i close the Origin Client and

Start again the game show me , are install , but need an "Update" when i try , Update that its the same

with the installation , doing nothing.

Follow "This Comment in WineHQ" , Wine must be patched for Fix that , for my Wine 1.7.22 works fine with Origin , the another version not , the follow versions DONT Works for me : 1.5.30 , 1.6.2 , 1.7.1 , 1.7.12 , 1.7.18 , 1.7.30 , 1.7.31 , 1.7.32

i wanna know , if you can compile a Wine 1.7.22 with that Patch , for Test Origin trought Wine , for Correctly Download , and installation of Games , Just Installations on Origin , the Launching games its another thing apart , depend of game to launch.

I still can not get Origin to properly download and launch games.  The fix I always read about for Qt5 is to set the Windows version to Windows XP, but even after doing that, I still can't get the games to launch properly.

I've tested Kindoms of Amalur in Origin and have this exact same problem.  Even after killing EAProxyInstaller.exe

You can contact the PlayOnLinux developers and link them to the patch.  They might patch up Wine 1.7.22 if they have time.  There is no guarantee.

Origin dose not work at all no matter which version of wine I run. It hasn't for a week or so now. I think EA changed something again. When I tried to run origin it trys to update and fails asking me to download the latest version myself. When I install that version in the wine prefix, it fails with the same errror message.

To bad I can't figure out how to apply this patch. Maybe then I could download the sims 4. I am using wine 1.7.33, that seems to run Origin. It won't download anything yet.

I switched to wine 1.5.28-Origin because no other version of wine lets me download anything not even 1.7.22. So far after an hour and a half I have 1% of The Sims 4. Good thing the bandwith is on EA's dime. laugh

After about 30 tries I finally figured out how to get the patch installled. I downloaded The Sims 4 Limited Edition. Installation failed. The erropr message said: " VC ++ run time redistrutable package was not installed sucessfully. Setup can not continue. (5)" I installed VC run 2010 but I am guessing that it needs the 2013 version which apparently isn't in PlayOnLinux yet. Attention POL devolopers: Please add the latest version of VC run as soon as wine makes it. Please check to see if they have added it to winetricks yet. Thanks.

wine can install and run VCrun 2012 and 2013 now. POL needs to be updated so we can install The Sims 4 and other games that use Vc run 2012 and 2013. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3M3f2gLy7Q#t=1731

If he can get the Sims 4 to play under wine then why not POL users?

It is not like we purposely are not updating anything (and it not POL that needs this feature; it is a script like all of the other installers). That video shows "Wine 7.1.33", which is non-existent, but I assume they meant 1.7.33.

Also, what I see on appdb.winehq.org is "garbage" ratings for both of those installers. Can you provide us with more than a video of someone simply running the game? Perhaps some info on what is needed to get it working? This is an open-source project, so you are always more than welcome to contribute to scripts or even provide info about what is needed to install vcrun 2012 and 2013 that apparently is not on appdb.winehq.org? Demanding that POL get updated is not the way to get it done, especially with the lack of info, and all signs pointing to it not working very well. Have you tried to install it with POL? Through a manual install? There is no reason that, if it works through Wine, it should work through POL (POL is just a front end for Wine).

Looks like in winetricks it would not actually install it, but manually extract the dll's from it. This may be a viable solution. I have yet to try it yet with POL, though.

Also looks like someone managed to get it running with a bunch of patches, so this is something that could be built and tested.

Google searching yields a lot of results when looking at the installer log when vcrun2012 crashes. If I find anything, I will post it up. Just trying to see what is out there to fix this, as there does not seem to be any official Wine fix yet.

Sweet. It just needs to be tested. It installs just fine, but I do not own Sims 4, and can't really think of another game that I own that needs vcrun2012. Let me know if it works out at all. Worst-case scenario, we have at least the start of implementation. It is in the newest version of winetricks, and essentially the DLLs are extracted and copied to system32, and a few overrides are set. I hope it is that simple until a regular install of vcrun2012 will work. I tried to install vcrun2012 from the exe AFTER I did it using the script, and it still failed, giving me an ACCESS DENIED error (when checking the log, it says that it cannot copy stuff from it's cache folder that it creates, and I have no clue why it is doing that.). I have to imagine it is trying to check some sort of Windows permisssion, and of course, it cannot find it, but that is just speculation.

Try Drakensang again.  Remember QT5 and Visual C 2012 worked together somehow?
