I've started using POL back in 13.04(?), and it was flawless. Now I use 14.01(?), and whenever I open steam using POL, all what I get is a steam client without letters.

Ah, classic dwrite font problem... I'm tired of this problem.  I wish Wine would be compatible with dwrite by now....

  1. Go Back to PlayOnLinux
  2. Select Steam
  3. Click Configure
  4. In General Tab
  5. Click in Arguments
  6. type:  -no-dwrite

That "should" fix the font problem, but you would have noticed it at the login, unless you have it automatically log you in...

I saw DirectWrite mentionned very often in Wine changelogs starting with 1.7.24 or so, no change with recent versions?

I was just going to say the same thing. That last few point releases they have been getting a lot of commits regarding DirectWrite.

That would be awesome if Wine worked without having to disable it.  I'll take a look...
