Alright so rather fresh install of cinnamon flavored Mint with intel's HD 4600 integrated GPU.

wine 1.4.1-0ubuntu7
playonlinux 4.2.1-1

And here's the bit that seems important to me.

err:winediag:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo Direct rendering is disabled, most likely your 32-bit OpenGL drivers haven't been installed correctly (using GL renderer "Mesa DRI Intel(R) Haswell Desktop ", version "1.4 (3.0 Mesa 9.2.1)").

I have i965-va-driver  version 1.0.20-2 installed.

Installing steam installed all the stuff I needed. So yay, fixed.
