Bonjour,
Un message que j'ai posté sur le forum de Wine ; sans réponse.
Merci

I'm running PlayOnLinux 4.2.1 on Ubuntu 13.10. I installed Office 2010 and try to solve my problem with several 32 bits Wine versions : 1.7.11 and 1.5.31. I have another computer PlayOnLinux 4.2.2 on Ubuntu 12.04 and Wine 1.7.11 and there is no problem. And I'm using a french keyboard (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/92/Clavier-Azerty.svg/1000px-Clavier-Azerty.svg.png).

Before installing another PPA to get the latest version (4.2.2), here is my problem. In every Office application and in the windows terminal :
  • special characters with accent which have their own key, ie. é (under 2) or è (under 7) are displayed correctly;
  • special characters with accent which don't have their own key, ie. ê (first ^ next to P then e) or ë (first shift+^ next to P then e) are not working at all (nothing displayed);

One weird thing is that these sequences are working in the options dialog (File > Options/Settings).

Thanks for any help

Same here. 13.10 64bits, POL 4.2.2, wine 1.5.16... I did not have this problem with my previous installation on Linux Mint 32 bits (based upon Ubuntu 12.04 32bits), pol 4.2.1, wine 1.5.16, which is odd!

The only difference is that pol installed msvcr80 as native in my Mint installation, and not in the Ubuntu one. But it may be related to some other software that I installed in the same wine prefix, and in any case, installing this dll did not change anything.

It does look like it is an Ubuntu issue.

It is not a Ubuntu issue as I've got the same problem with Fedora 18 and Fedora 20

I had this problem,and there is an easy fix, but I could not find the original thread that had helped me. The problem lies with Ubuntu (or whichever distribution you are using), not with wine or playonlinux.

A helpful thread:

Set keyboard input method system to "none". And VOILA! :-)
