XSML startup error on Age of Empires III (Steam)

Hello everyone!

I'm trying to play Age of Empires III: Complete Edition through the Windows version of Steam running through PlayOnMac (Wine version 1.7.9) on a late 2013 MacBook Pro with Mavericks. Steam loads up fine, and the game downloads fully without trouble, but when I try to actually play the game, it says 'Completing first time setup (Step 1 of 3)' but then quickly changes to this strange blank error message (http://i.imgur.com/BQOzSZm.png) and doesn't load. From this thread describing the same problem, some have suggested it's an issue with a failed install of XSML 4.0, so I went to Configure -> Install Components (in PlayOnMac) and installed 'msxml4' to no avail, and have even downloaded the msxml4.msi file from Microsoft's website and tried to place it in the appropriate folder within ~Library/PlayOnMac, but I still can't load the game up and the same blank error message keeps appearing time and time again. If anyone could please help me with this issue, I would be very appreciative!

Thanks in advance!

I'm having this kind of problem too. First it pulls up a window with the game key, then when I try to play either the complete edition, or asian dynasties or the other one, it crashes and says that I need to install msxml 4.0. What do I do?
