Why did the Steam client stop working in my Skyrim prefix?

Play on Linux log for today:

Looks like steam didn't shutdown cleanly, scheduling immediate update check

Because the recent steam update breaks it for all wine versions except the newly released 1.7.8 which includes the fix to get steam working. There is a big topic for it here

I already tried changing to the latest version.It seems to be working now. I will read that article. Thanks for the info.

Awesome! thank you for confirming that Skyrim runs in Wine 1.7.8!
