Also i have a youtube account and was expecting to have to use it, i will post a video soon although i will probably have to use a camera because my screen will be glitching out to much to use a screen recorder.

also on the distro side i really cant decide... this may take a while :P

i dont really like kde or cinnamon so those are not really an option, i will use almost anything else although I have really been looking into an openbox system, but my problem is when i tested ubuntu minimal on VBox i couldent get the audio to work and i havent even tried getting wifi to work. So i would prefer something easy to setup, Also Linux Mint isent really my kind of distro. Any suggestions would be helpful!

You could always try Fedora, but it sticks to open-source only. Meaning you have to install anything else that is proprietary like Flash player.

I actually recommend Ubuntu and installing openbox.
Then you will have similar freedom to the desktop you are using now. Of course some programming is necessary to get what you need.

Have you tried Arch?
There are a lot of gamers using Arch, but of course, you will spend a lot more time configuring it.

I was looking at crunch-bang but its based off debian which means old packages... which i really dont like...

i would prefer if the distro had 1 de so using something like ubuntu with openbox ontop is not ideal. Again i have tried minimal though and i would also like to repeat that the audio dident work on VB and might work on a proper install. although i would prefer something that was easy to setup so i dont think arch is an option.

i was thinking ArchBang, up to date repos and easy install of openbox. although the website just gave me "Premission Denied" when i tried to visit the site.

i tried fedora a while ago and it was OK but i would like to look into openbox a little before i stick with gnome. (i love customization and speed).

I have confirmed that running openbox in Mint reduces most of the unnecessary desktop processes. Even though it has more than one Desktop Environment installed.
You can set openbox or any DE as the default and never use Cinnamon or Gnome again.

I agree about Arch. Just way too much work.

Fedora rocks for me, but my goal is to help Windows gamers migrate to Linux and Mint is the closest thing they have. So I have to do my gaming in Mint.

Let me know what you end up choosing.
Openbox is pretty cool, but I havn't spent the time messing with configs to really utilize its full capabilities.
I will just right-click open terminal and type playonlinux
Then I'll launch my game.

also, i relised that i can use linux mint repos to install up to date software so im having a look at crunch bang in virtual box.

I wonder if you can add that command into the arguments area in PlayOnLinux configure so its more automated?

Yes, let us know if PlayOnLinux can handle those kind of commands when launching a game.

On playonlinux config under miscellaneous you can enter the command and it works fine.

but then you have to use terminal to turn it back so im personally going to stick with my shortcuts :)

Oh, the "open a shell" option?
I agree, stick with your shortcut so you only have to set it once.

No, when you open miscellaneous there should be a textbox saying

"Commands to be run on launch"

or something like that.

I see it now, funny... I have always ignored it for some reason.
