Interesting. What libraries are you running for League of Legends in PlayOnLinux?
wininet
vcrun2005
vcrun2008
d3dx9

I'm guessing you have since the game runs, but maybe one of them is missing.
Did you also install IE8 which includes:
msls3, msxml3 & service pack 3

The best way is to:
  1. Launch PlayOnLinux
  2. Click Configure
  3. Click Wine Tab
  4. Click Wine Configuration
  5. Click Libraries Tab
  6. List all of the libraries

Can you play any other games on your computer?
I'll need some more system information:

What Distro?
32-bit or 64-bit?
Version of PlayOnLinux?
Version of Wine?
Video Card?
Did you install the proprietary drivers for your video card?

dota2, portal2 (via steam) work flawlessly

its a ubuntu13.10 solely setup for gaming,

playonlinux 4.2.1.1. from ubuntu repo
nvidia-settings-319 (revision 32) also from ubuntu repo (nvidia gtx 460)
wine was installed by pol, its called wine1.7-leagueoflegends

i made two observations which puzzle me, but might help you.

1st: when u hover above your friends in friends list the cursor changes to a "hand". The moment i right click it changes to the normal cursor (as in screenshot in OP) but without anything happening.

2nd: I installed pol on my notebook (you cant even start the game on it, becos its too weak) but u can enter the soft client and i experience the same issue here!

Great thanks
Looks like your machine is configured perfectly for games!

I hardly play LoL, so I don't have any friends.
Can you give me your LoL name so I can look you up and test it in Mint?

I think I used Wine 1.7-leagueoflegends too, but I have also used Wine 1.5.24-LeagueOfLegendsShop which fixed some shop icon issues.

My recent problem is the shop/store crashes the whole game when I click it.

Try downloading Wine 1.5.24-LeagueOfLegendsShop and see if that helps.
Go to Tools, Wine Versions

my lol-summoner name is "Das Beefalo",

I've been toying around with different wine versions aswell, but without success. (i tried 1.7.7, 1.5.24-lolshop ) but all in x86 ... i thought lol ran in 64bit mode?

the crashing shop is another problem i encounter (less urgent though :) )

Everything needs to be run in 32-bit virtual drive
I'll look you up in LoL and see if I can add you as a friend

I tried to add friend Das Beffalo and LoL says that name doesn't exist.
Do you think its because you are in a different country?

Here is a workaround:

"This may be related to this issue, although display in the friend list works fine for me. Clicking to access the menu requires a trick: right click does not work, but right click then left click does (start right click, start left click, release right click).

Tested with Arch Linux, the PlayOnLinux wine version (patch 1.7), textures patched etc."

forgive me but: LOL ...
this work around does it ... although its really really ridicolous i think it's still fine as long as u know how to do it. Maybe put a hint at a more obvious place? you need the right click to spectate ur friends playing, which is a quite important feature when want to play the game some what serious on linux.

cheers and thanks alot for all the efforts!

PS:
@booman: sry i seemed to overlook ur post. im on eurpoe west, i should have mentioned that :D!

Hello,

the bug is still existing. The workaround is still working. But is there not existing any issue task to resolve the bug?

Best regards,

Michael
